"Major Dad"

Major Dad

I would like to start by saying thank you to my Pastor and his amazing wife. I love and appreciate your faithfulness, servitude, and dedication to my family and I, then, also to this amazing body of believers. This is the greatest opportunity I have ever been given.

Secondly I have to say a special thank you to my wife, the most amazing woman…ever. She makes me a better Father, husband, Youth Pastor, and friend. She is the greatest mother in the world, the most giving, selfless person I know and God blessed me with her over 16 years ago. Tk you are beautiful, and there are none to compare to you and the other things I’ll have to save for her ears only…this is a family church.

1. Go Serve is our theme for this month and this morning I am going to enlighten you that Fatherhood is a branch of service.
a. Unlike the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or the Coast Guard fatherhood is a branch of service all its own.
                                i.    I live to serve my God.
ii.    I live to serve my family.
iii.    I live to serve my church family.
iv.    I live to serve the lost.
                              v.    I live to serve the world.
b. Society brings confusion when it says “serve yourself”, while God has instructed us to “serve others.”
                                i.    Society says abandon your family, God says embrace them, console them, protect them, honor them, provide for them, teach and train them, and lay down your life for them.
ii.    Society says work, work, work and give your children everything they ever want and that will be what’s best for them and I’m here to tell you today that is simply not enough.
c.  Wives, children, and families need 3 things for a family’s success.
1. Face time. Physical. Emotional.
2. Faith time. Spiritual. Eternal.
3. Future time. Rewarding. Your family will always need you.
a. I have to be engaged in all of these for it to work.
b. They say that, “If a child is 15 years old and younger they will do what they are told. If a child is 15 years and older they will do what you have shown them.”
d. Key word here that I hope is ringing out in your brain and heart…TIME.
2. The greatest witness I have to the entire world of my love for Jesus Christ is in, to and through my family.
a. If the world can see me love them, respect them, encourage them, equip them, provide for them, serve them, then they will see the love of Christ being modeled.
b. If the world just sees me hate them, disrespect them, mistreat them, ignore them, abandon them, and put everything else first beside them then how will they ever see the love of Christ modeled to them?
c.  Early Christians were confused as being so much like Christ their enemies coined the phrase “Christians” as a demeaning stereotypical phrase term used in hate.
                                i.    We have men who could never be confused as being Christians.
ii.    As a matter of fact there wouldn’t be enough evidence to convict you of jay walking let alone Christ following.
iii.    That is not going to be me!
1. If loving God was a crime I’ve decided I’m gonna be an “Outlaw.”
2. I want to be confused with bearing the image of the Son.
3. Hate me, demean me, be confused with my conduct, and stereotype me all you want…I’m a son.
4. I’m a Spirit Filled, Christ following, bible believing, and world changing “Christian.”
John 1:1 “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it. 14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father's one and only Son. 17 For the law was given through Moses, but God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.”
·       The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Christ modeled with His words, His prayers, His life, His walk, and to His family how to live the Christ life.
3. What does that look like for you?
·       God planted a seed in the ground by the name of Jesus Christ His one and only Son.
o   I love all people but I would never, could never sacrifice one of my children for any of you nor for the world.
§  I am that selfish.
o   I will never let anyone talk down to my children/students and I believe I am speaking for God the Father when I say don’t you ever talk down to any other human being, “Those are my children.”
·       God gave His Son to us and we say wow what a sacrifice He made but God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit say, “Wow what an investment we made.”
o   God said, “I’ll give up my only Son”, Jesus said, “I’ll lay aside my immortality, put on mortality and lay down my life for the entire human race.”
o   Then the Spirit of God said, “I will live in them and them in me and will empower them to tell the world of this great gift of salvation.”
·       We have become adopted by the Father as if we are all His one and only sons and daughters.
o   Being born into the family means the benefits of the family are mine, the blessings of the family are mine, the reputation of the family is mine, the inheritance of the family is mine and the responsibilities of the family are mine.
o   God loves His family beyond service, beyond performance, beyond gifting, and way beyond what He can receive from them.
§  God’s love for His children is immeasurable, incomprehensible, infinite, everlasting, merciful, and perfect.
§  I’m telling you of the Father beyond all Father’s this morning.

In the spring of 1977, Rick told his father that he wanted to participate in a 5-mile benefit run for a Lacrosse player who had been paralyzed in an accident. That night, Rick told his father, "Dad, when I'm running, it feels like I'm not handicapped."

This realization was just the beginning of what would become over 1,000 races completed, including marathons, duathlons and triathlons even Ironman. Also adding to their list of achievements, Dick and Rick biked and ran across the U.S. in 1992, completing a full 3,735 miles in 45 days.

In a triathlon, Dick will pull Rick in a boat with a bungee cord attached to a vest around his waist and to the front of the boat for the swimming stage. For the biking stage, Rick will ride a special two-seater bicycle, and then Dick will push Rick in his custom made running chair (for the running stage).

Rick was once asked, if he could give his father one thing, what would it be? Rick responded, "The thing I'd most like is for my dad to sit in the chair and I would push him for once."

The 2009 Boston Marathon was officially Team Hoyt's 1000th race. Dick Hoyt hopes that he is able to push Rick in the Boston Marathon when he is 70 years old (2011)! Neither Dick nor Rick are ready to retire.
·       For over 25 years, he’s been his son’s hands, feet, and closest friend.
·       Much like our Heavenly Father, he’s refused to let circumstances beat his boy.  It’s not always been easy . . . But their “souls have sculpted” because of the challenges they’ve faced together.
4. Fatherhood is the absolute privilege of my life.
o   I love being Tara’s husband and the father of Alec, Chase and Madi.
o   It’s my ultimate calling!
Malachi 2:14-16 “You cry out, "Why doesn't the LORD accept my worship?" I'll tell you why! Because the LORD witnessed the vows you and your wife made when you were young. But you have been unfaithful to her, though she remained your faithful partner, the wife of your marriage vows. 15 Didn't the LORD make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union. So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth.16 "For I hate divorce!" says the LORD, the God of Israel. "To divorce your wife is to overwhelm her with cruelty," says the LORD of Heaven's Armies. "So guard your heart; do not be unfaithful to your wife."
·        “Guard yourself; always remain loyal to your wife” means to have the same commitment to marriage that God has to His promises for His people.
Luke “But that doesn't mean that the law has lost its force. It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the smallest point of God's law to be overturned.”
o   God’s Word is Living, Eternal, and Trustworthy.
o   Our passion should be reserved exclusively for our spouse.
o   Some people change jobs, mates and friends, but never think of changing themselves.
o   That’s a problem in our society today with men so selfish, so arrogant, so prideful, so addicted, so ready to flirt with every demon that hell would desire to throw at us.
§  Laying down all that they have built for a moment of sin that would last only a season but cost them a lifetime of punishment.
Galatians 6:9 “So don’t get tired of doing what is good. Don’t get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.”
·       What price are you willing to pay for your family to be a “Major Dad?”
Malachi 4:5,6 "Look, I am sending you the prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the LORD arrives.6 His preaching will turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers. Otherwise I will come and strike the land with a curse."
Illustrate here: Fatherless Stats.
o   What price? God paid His price in full. What about you?
o   God is here to help you dad you just have to lay the pride down long enough to see, hear, and experience Him.
·       I’m astounded in this technological age we have guided missiles but so many misguided men.
o   Everyone wants direction but no one wants correction.
§  What kind of dad are you?
§  Major dad?
§  Player dad?
§  Weekend dad?
§  Absentee dad?
§  $ dad?
·       Not just any dad will do.
·       Kid's lives are enhanced by dads who are emotionally present, validating, & able to comfort in times of distress.
o   Not dismiss themselves in the hard times.
o   Dismiss themselves to their own wants and desires.
1 Peter 3:7 “In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God's gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.”
·       If a man is not considerate and respectful of his wife, his prayers will not be heard, because a living, vibrant, passionate relationship with God depends on right relationships with others.
·       Your relationship with God is paralleled with your relationship with others.
·       Paralleled. Matching. Same as.
o   We have Fathers whose cars are dressed better than their children.
o   Father’s hobbies that get filled with finances and focus and their children starve for affection, affirmation, and attention.
o   Father’s who choose to abandon their wives, children, and God.
o   Father’s more concerned about their personal image than the family name.
§  Don’t shame your family.
§  Don’t shame the family of God!
o   Father’s who will contribute to the moment of passion but not the lifetime of commitment.
§  That just makes you a coward.
·       I’m talking about Father’s who will lay down their lives for their children.
·       I’m talking about father’s who will lay down their lives for the lives of others children.
·       These are men in God’s eyes, and these are men in my eyes.
Ephesians “For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her”
Ephesians 6:1 “Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do.2 "Honor your father and mother." This is the first commandment with a promise:3 If you honor your father and mother, "things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth." 4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.”
Australian coat of arms.
·       The Red Kangaroo and Emu that support the shield are the unofficial animal emblems of the nation.
·       It is often claimed these animals were chosen because neither animal can move backward, only forward, progress. Progression!
o   Move forward. Change course.
·       In reality both animals can move backwards, but infrequently do.
·       If you don't deal with your mess at home...you'll bring that mess into the church.
o   Strong men build strong homes.
o   Strong homes build strong churches.
o   Strong churches build strong communities.
o   Strong communities build strong cities, etc.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
·       Your childhood father.
o   Absentee Father.
o   Abusive Father.
o   Long distance dad.
o   Unknown Father.
o   Uncaring, selfish Father.
o   Substance abuse Father.
o   Workaholic Father.
·       I’ve asked God a billion times why my father couldn’t hold himself together for me.
o   Wasn’t I enough?
o   Where was the model of Christ for me?
o   Where is the model of Christ for me?
·       God finally spoke to me on this and declared that He took me on as His own special project.
·       I am His son and that what my father was unable, unwilling, to model out, He would model out for me.
·       He has continued to send Fathers into my life to model Fatherhood.
·       Identity-the state of having unique identifying characteristics held by no other person or thing. Individuality, uniqueness, distinctiveness, who a person is.
Psalm 68:5 “Father to the fatherless, defender of widows-this is God, whose dwelling is holy.”
·       Pastor Mike why did God call you to the fatherless? Elijah? Curse?
Deuteronomy 28:1-10 "If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the world.2 You will experience all these blessings if you obey the LORD your God: 3 Your towns and your fields will be blessed. 4 Your children and your crops will be blessed. The offspring of your herds and flocks will be blessed. 5 Your fruit baskets and breadboards
will be blessed. 6 Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed. 7 "The LORD will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven! 8 "The LORD will guarantee a blessing on everything you do and will fill your storehouses with grain. The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you. 9 "If you obey the commands of the LORD your God and walk in his ways, the LORD will establish you as his holy people as he swore he would do.10 Then all the nations of the world will see that you are a people claimed by the LORD, and they will stand in awe of you.”

Light

John 1:1 “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. 6 God sent a man, John the Baptist, 7 to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. 8 John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light.9 The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He came into the very world he created, but the world didn't recognize him.11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him.12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.”

1) God is light.
·       God can not be eclipsed.
·       Sin can not eclipse God.
Job 24:13 "Wicked people rebel against the light. They refuse to acknowledge its ways or stay in its paths.”
·       People think they can sin, sin, and sin and somehow God will hate them and never forgive or accept them because they are just too bad.
o      What a lie.
John 12:46 “I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.”
·       God loves you and you will never be able to stop that, erase that, eclipse that, or do anything else to make that occur.
2 Corinthians 4:4 “Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don't believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don't understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.”

1 John 2:9 “If anyone claims, "I am living in the light," but hates a Christian brother or sister, that person is still living in darkness. 10 Anyone who loves another brother or sister is living in the light and does not cause others to stumble.”
·       Error can not eclipse God.
o      People think they can make many different roads to God, paths to God, or gods to worship.
o      What a trick this is.
1 John 1:7 “But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.”
o      Error is inaccuracy, error is untruth.
Philippians “so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.”

Proverbs “The LORD's light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive.”
·       Unbelief can not eclipse God.
1 John 1:5 “This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.”
·       God is faithful with no sin in him.
o      No variances, no cloudiness only complete clarity.
James “Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.”

Revelation “And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light. 24 “The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory.”
·       You can say “I don’t believe in God,” but that does not affect truth, light, or reality.
o      I can’t see God so I don’t believe in Him well I can’t see my brains, my heart, the wind but that still doesn’t affect the reality of its existence.
John “But at night there is danger of stumbling because they have no light."
o      When people refuse to believe in God they can not understand His word, understand His Truths, nor understand His promises.

2) Because God lives in you, you are light.
Ephesians 5:9 “For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.”
·       God can not be extinguished.
Genesis “God made two great lights the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set these lights in the sky to light the earth,”
·       We are to light the earth.
o      We have purpose, clarity, and direction for life right here in this one verse of scripture.
o      Just pinning down how we shine is the final step.
Colossians “Always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.”
·       Live in the light.
Ephesians 1:18 “I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.”
o      The Spirit of God/Light can never be extinguished.
·       Holiness can never be extinguished.
·       God’s goodness, mercy, grace can never be extinguished.
3) We are to light our life, our home, and our world.
Matthew "You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
·       Are you a bright light?
·       A dim light?
·       To brighten your light you must be giving it fuel.
·       Wattage.
1.  Purity.
2.  Passion.
3.  Perseverance.
4.  Prayer.
5.  Presence.
6.  Pursuit.
7.  People.
·       To decrease your brightness you ignore those things that fuel the light and your light will extinguish.
Luke 11:36 “If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light."

Acts “For the Lord gave us this command when he said, 'I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.'"

Acts 26:18 “to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God's people, who are set apart by faith in me.”

Exodus 27:20 "Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to keep the lamps burning continually.”
·       Light our world continuously.
John “And the judgment is based on this fact: God's light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.”
·       Light the world when it seems hopeless.
·       Light the world when it seems no one else cares.
·       Light the world when you’re being attacked.
·       Light the world when you are being persecuted.
John “All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. 21 But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants."

Isaiah 42:6 "I, the LORD, have called you to demonstrate my righteousness. I will take you by the hand and guard you, and I will give you to my people, Israel, as a symbol of my covenant with them. And you will be a light to guide the nations.”

Isaiah 58:10 “Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as .”

Isaiah 9:2 “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.”
·       When in dark places be the light

John Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life."
·       I am not here to just curse the darkness but to turn on the light.

Incredibles

Incredible means too extraordinary and improbable to be believed. How many of us ever dreamed of being a super hero with all these awesome super powers? We would grab a sheet or pillow case and make it a cape and pretend we are a super hero. The incredible is inside of each of us, tapping into that is our weakness. Ordinary moves to extraordinary when you commit to a cause that is greater than yourself and demands the supernatural hand of Almighty God to help you to get it accomplished. The key is to have a willing and committed heart. I desire to rescue people, and then lead people into a genuine and contagious walk with Christ. That is what every believer should be striving for. I'm tired of the ordinary. Tired of the mundane, tired of the possible, tired of low expectations, tired of quitters, or just do your best speeches. God has called us to do extraordinary things in our lives for him. We all have a destiny through God. We as believers have a common enemy and that is the devil. The devil is not afraid of you. He is afraid of the Spirit of God that is in YOU! The devil is afraid of people who so desire to do the incredible that they will pay any price to experience it! You have to be willing to do the incredible. I'm ready for change. A phrase that is said by a wise man, 'If I change then everything changes.' Think about it. If you take a look at you and make changes for the better for God then God is going to do incredible things through you.  I'm ready for the supernatural to takeover, to believe in the impossible. It's through God all things are possible. I'm ready to put my faith, all my confidence in God and let him use me in ways I've never dreamed.

We need a generation of Christians to stand up and declare to the world, their flesh and the devil that "no you will not get me." I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. That is a promise from God right their. Some examples is we need some Joseph's (Book of Genesis) who will run away form the offer of fornication and adultery. While losing his coat he never lost his character. Joseph was a man of integrity. To be incredible we need integrity and character. The Church needs some Caleb's and Joshua's (Book of Joshua) that will stand in as the minority and say, "We can possess the land God has given us." He was pre-destined to win every battle to possess the land that was promised to him. All he had to do was follow God's instructions and follow him. We need some David's who will declare that no you will not have your liberty with my life nor the lives of my family. He chased down a lion while the sheep was yet  in his mouth and grabbed him by the beard and smote him.  He endured Goliath and struck him down with a rock and cut off his head with his own sword. We get hit every Sunday, every Wednesday by the word of God but are we really "decreasing so he can increase?" (John 3:30)

We need to be living out the incredible. Our churches are our spiritual families. We are the Body of the Lord Jesus Christ. We together make up the one body. Isaiah 1:17 "Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows. We are to fight against sin. Fight for the people in our churches, in our schools, in our communities and under our influence. We have so many children, students, people who have been spiritually abandoned by their world, their church and their culture. Love the unlovable. Encourage the discouraged. Inspire the passionless.

2 Kings 18:5-7 states that Hezekiah trusted in the Lord. He remained faithful to the Lord in everything, and he carefully obeyed all the commands the Lord had given Moses. The Lord was with him. Hezekiah was successful in everything he did. EVERYTHING! Pledged himself to God. We are to pledge ourselves to God also. You want to be incredible, you want to change the world, you want to do something great for God? Pledge yourself to him. Be committed to Christ. Follow after him. All it takes is living our lives for God and following his word. His word is full of promises for us. We can overcome the enemy, we can do all things through Christ.

Through out the bible many people had incredible stories of doing incredible things through God. What's your story? What has God done through you that was incredible? Peter walked on water. Gideon defeated thousands with only 300 men. David killed a lion, bear, and giant. Other stories such as the dead being raised, people being healed of sickness, demons being cast out, miracles being performed. People coming to know Christ. So many stories out there. What is yours?

YR Axxess - 2/24/11

No this isn’t a Justin Bieber message. When I saw the title of this message I instantly thought of Justin Bieber because of his famous iconic hair style. I figure the girls in the service would scream and go crazy and sure enough we had some that did. No this message isn’t about Chase Koelling getting his hair cut on the stage. That’s an illustration. It’s about a man named Samson.

In Judges Ch 16 we look at the story of Samson and Delilah. Samson is this man of God who is blessed with super, powerful strength. He was unstoppable against the Philistines. But Samson was a man who lusted after women. He had a problem. He got caught up with this woman named Delilah who was working for the Philistines who were after Samson. The rulers of the Philistines told Delilah to seduce Samson into revealing the secret of his strength and paid her 1,1000 pieces of silver.

Samson fell in love with Delilah and spent a lot of time with her. Delilah said to Samson in verse 6 “Please tell me what makes you so strong and what it would take to tie you up securely.” Samson responds “If I were tied up with seven new bowstrings that have not yet been dried, I would become weak as anyone else.”

So Delilah goes and tries this while Samson was sleeping and screams that the Philistines are here to take you. Samson broke free and took care of them. Plan failed for Delilah. However she asks again and Samson tells another way which also fails. Delilah then says to Samson “How can you tell me, ‘I love you’ when you don’t share your secrets with me? You’ve made fun of me 3 times now, and you still haven’t told me what makes you strong.” She continues to nag him for the secret until eventually Samson gives in and tells her that she has to cut off his hair.

Delilah cuts his hair when he was asleep and screams out that the Philistines have come and Samson got up thinking he would just do what he did the last time but he didn’t realize the Lord had left him. He was weak and was captured.

So what happened? Samson fell for a woman that he shouldn’t have been with and messed up his God given destiny. You need to have a vision for your opposite sex relationship and Marriage! When you don’t have a vision for your future marriage you have the mentality that “Anything Goes” right now… and this is not how God set it up. Samson settled for a “Cheap Haircut” that cost him his destiny.

Samson lost his vision. Seriously, his eyes were gouged out during his capture. But in spiritual point of view he lost his vision when he engaged in a relationship with a woman that God didn’t want him involved with. People who are in your life have INFLUENCE over you whether its good or bad. In 1st Corinthians 15:33 “Do not be misled, bad company corrupts good character.” Being involved with wrong people in your life is a dangerous field to be on and can mess up your walk with God. Wrong people will mess up your character and good integrity.

The Longer you are around Temptation the weaker you will become. Samson continued to see Delilah and as we see in the text he got weaker and finally revealed his secret of his strength that got him betrayed. Delilah was working for the enemy. She was seducing him to destroy him. (John 10:10) Let me ask you this, who are you with and why? Is that person you’re involved with a Christian who loves God with all their heart?  If not then dump them. Or even if they are a Christian are they right for you? God is trying to save you from losing your destiny! God will bring you the right person for you to spend the rest of your life with who will line up with your destiny.

Being with the wrong person will cut off your source of Real Strength. If you lose your vision and relationship with God then you have lost your strength. Judges 16:20 states “Samson DID NOT realize that the LORD had DEPARTED from HIM!” Without God’s presence with you, you will become lost in your direction and you will lose focus on your destined path. Samson was blinded by Delilah and he couldn’t see his destined path.

Many people have ended up with a Delilah and have lost or disregarded their God Given Destiny. But can I tell you, God can restore you back. It maybe a hard decision but you may need to cut that person loose! Being with the wrong person can blind you from your destiny. Samson learned that lesson. His hair grew back. God gives you a second chance. No matter if you messed up sexually or just in the wrong relationship God can set you straight if you turn to him.

Season 9 of Battle of the Sexes is getting more interesting each week. Last week we saw the Girls dominate the evening but this past week it seemed to be a good balance as the Guys finally showed up, but still needs to MAN UP! The competitions were great as we had Matt Koelling and Greg Smith come out with icing on their bald heads and each team had to lick the icing off their heads within 60 seconds. After the bout the Guys scored a few extra points licking whatever fell to the floor. This followed by another 30 second competition and lead to more eating off the floor for more points. Lets not forget that the Girls responded with an interpretive Dance. There was team effort and unity with in the Girls Camp which got them some nice points. Our very own Adam Jackson slammed in an $80 Check into the offering buckets for the GUYS but wait for it.........Someone from the GIRLS threw in $300 dollars! Are you serious!?! Who roles around with that kind of money? A.J. got slapped in the face by that one! Sorry Bro! For attendance once again for 3 weeks in a row the Girls out numbered the Guys. Next week is the final week of Battle of the Sexes and the losers will get SLIMED! So Guys if you want this win BRING IT next week. Its WAR TIME! Or will the Girls take home another win for however many years in a row now. This is your Battle of the Sexes Update!

YR AXXESS - 2/16/2011

Weds night in Youthrock we concluded the series titled "SEVEN" with a message on PEOPLE. Pastor Mike went to Texas to C3 Conference so filling in was Chad Horton. Chad talked about the 7 Core Values of Youthrock. He stated you can't fake core values. When things get tuff you can't just throw them away, you got to stick with them. Its either your going to apply these values or your don't. There's no in between line. Chad then moved towards talking about the final value People. Jesus was a man who loved people. People is his business and should be the churches business. We as people are valued by Jesus. You can look at scriptures such as Deut 14:2, Psalms 100:3, Titus 2:14, and Hebrews 8:10. Jesus built people. Look at the 12 Disciples for example. He taught them, corrected them, spent time with them, and developed them to become the early church who then went and spread the gospel unto all the world. Those 12 Disciples took what they were taught from Jesus and built more people and they too went to build more people and so on. The early churches business was also people.

Right here in Youthrock Teen Ministries Pastor Mike and Tara and all the staff are here to help build people. Jesus didn't build great buildings, didn't write a love song, wasn't a business man, he was a people driven person. People mattered to Jesus and people should matter to us. Jesus laid down his life for people. Jesus didn't lay down his life for job positions, buildings, money, ect... He gave his life for you and for me so we can have a second chance and live for Him so we can make heaven our home and not be sent to Hell. Jesus came to free us from the sin. Look at John 3:16-17 For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. That is what Jesus did for you and me. That was his role on this earth. Jesus didn't come to heal oxen's, he came to heal people. Jesus didn't come to teach fish, he came to teach people.

If we look at the story of Job in Job Ch1 we see how he had everything that he could ever want. Job was a man that had it all but then had it all taken away. You see God and the Devil talked and the Devil said that Job would curse God if he didn't have all these things. So God put on the test. One disaster after another Job lost everything. Before one messenger could finish his story on what took place another one would be running to address another issue. Job lost all his stuff and children and animals. For 42 Chapters Job wrestled with God until he realize God was testing him. In Job Ch 42 God restored Job and gave him twice as much except for when it came to his children. Instead he got 3 beautiful daughters and they were even named in the bible plus Job decided to give them the inheritance. In the old testament it was always the boys who got the inheritance, never the girls. But Job got a new perspective and valued his daughters. People became his business.

Why wait for God to wipe everything out to appreciate people. Job experienced everything wiped out from him for him to appreciate people. We need to get a new perspective and stop worrying about ourselves and only make it about ourselves and start focusing on people in our lives. Start valuing the people like Jesus did. Jesus knows people, he values people and he can see the hurt in someones eyes. The measure of your integrity will be shown on how you treat people and not expect anything in return. Your actions will speak louder than words. How do you treat people in your life right now? Do you care for them? Do you value them? Are you sharing God with them?

James 1:5-7 states "If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord." What are you going to do with these 7 Core Values? Are you going to go all in with God or not? Don't give a half in and half out deal. There is no in between. As this text states you are unsettled, waving back and forth. God cannot operate through that. Your either for him or against him. There is no middle line. Ask God and don't doubt him. Believe and stand on his promises. Start preparing your life like you have received the answer from God. Begin to live your life with the 7 Core Values!

Youthrock Life Teams is about discipleship. Its a time where you the students can ask questions and make comments during a lesson being delivered. This is your time to learn and grow deeper in your relationship with God. Come on out and invite someone to go with you this Sunday, Feb 20th at 4PM right here in Youthrock!

Youthrock is currently in the middle of a battle. This annual battle is known as "Battle of the Sexes!" This is season 9 and the boys last week started off strong just in a small number and dominated the first week. The boys won the Knockout battle and Dodge ball battle as well as other areas. The score for the first week was 50,000 for the boys and 40,000 for the girls. However! Last nights Youthrock the guys didn't show up at all. They were there in the flesh but no spirit, no fight in them, they needed to man up! The girls this week has token over the battle. GUYS WHY DO WE LOSE EVER YEAR? No unity, no team spirit, no commitment, you just sit there like your too cool for this deal. Don't you know if we lose this year we ALL WILL GET SLIMMED! Next week is the final week and we need to see a revival hit the guys to take this much needed win home. Here are the ways to win. 1. Win the games. 2. Have spirit! 3. Invite NEW people to Youthrock. Key word is NEW which means never been to Youthrock ever! 4. Offering that you give! That is your Battle of the Sexes recap, join us next week for the final results.
