Called

#youngLeader truly KNOWING your CALLING will RELEASE YOU to a lifetime of FRUITFUL SERVICE.

#youngleader if you aren't working hard, learning, expanding your integrity you certainly can't expect the people around you to be either!

#youngleader If I read my story in the scriptures, would it say that I had radical faith or would it say that I was a person who played it safe?

#youngleader The hunger for significance can destroy us. It can drive us away from what God is doing. Remembering the story of David & Saul.

The call of God will Seize you, Separate you, then it will Secure you.
1.The call of God will Seize you.

1.Look at Saul, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, the 12 disciples.

2.There is a definitive moment as God speaks to those He is calling.

1.The calling of God is irrevocable
Romans 11:29 (NLT) "For God's gifts and His call can never be withdrawn."
1.The bible says that it is without repentance or it is without desertion. You can not desert the call of God. The calling of God can never be turned away from and deserted.

1.God you called me. God you saw potential in me.

2.You saw your gifting being called out in me.

1.You can fight it but it will always be there, there is an internal gift, talent and ability that God has designed inside of you that He desires for you to use for His purpose that will lead others to an eternal relationship with Him.

2.No more no less. He placed this gift, this desire down deep inside of you that He desperately wants that calling to be tapped into so others lives are changed.

3.He doesn't call people to make them famous.

4.God doesn't call people to make them look intelligent.

5.He doesn't call them to get the world to see their gifting but to see Him.

2.Are you displaying Him?

3.Are you displaying Christ?

4.Does your calling exalt Him, thank Him, point to Him?

5.You somehow still think this whole deal is about you!

6.No way it's about Christ it's always been.

2. The call of God will Separate you.

Mark 1:16-20 (NLT) "One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. [17] Jesus called out to them, "Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!" [18] And they left their nets at once and followed him. [19] A little farther up the shore Jesus saw Zebedee's sons, James and John, in a boat repairing their nets. [20] He called them at once, and they also followed him, leaving their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired men."

Luke 6:12-16 (NLT)
"One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night. [13] At daybreak he called together all of his disciples and chose twelve of them to be apostles. Here are their names: [14] Simon (whom he named Peter), Andrew (Peter's brother), James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, [15] Matthew, Thomas, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon (who was called the zealot), [16] Judas (son of James), Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed him)."

1.People, called of God understand that God is in control of their past, present, and future.

2.They don't get dismayed at the circumstances surrounding them they continually place confidence in Him.

1.The calling of the 12 was so important Jesus spent all night praying for God to reveal His plan to Him.

1.Many of us don't spend 5 minutes a day in prayer to communicate to God let alone time in prayer dreaming, planning, and preparing for the future.

1.The call of God will Seize you, Separate you, then it will Secure you.

3.Saul was blinded and thrown to the ground from horseback and was separated from those he was with!

Acts 9:6-16 (NLT)
Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do." [7] The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone's voice but saw no one! [8] Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus. [9] He remained there blind for three days and did not eat or drink. [10] Now there was a believer in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord spoke to him in a vision, calling, "Ananias!" "Yes, Lord!" he replied. [11] The Lord said, "Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now. [12] I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again." [13] "But Lord," exclaimed Ananias, "I've heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers in Jerusalem! [14] And he is authorized by the leading priests to arrest everyone who calls upon your name." [15] But the Lord said, "Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel. [16] And I will show him how much he must suffer for my name's sake."

1.When the Spirit of God calls you He begins to call you out of something and into another.

1.He will call you out of the darkness.

2.He will call you out of the ignorant.

3.He will call you out of the selfishness.

4.He will call you out of sin.

5.He will call you out of some relationships.

6.He will call you out of mediocrity.

1.He will call you into the light.

2.He will call you into the intellectual.

3.He will call you into service.

4.He will call you into holiness.

5.He will call you into some relationships of submission, encouragement, accountability, and discipleship.

1.He will call you into greatness.

1.That greatness will include suffering.

3. The call of God will Secure you.

Matthew 10:1-4 (NLT)
"Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness."
1.When you are on the team and under the authority of the leader, coach, or Pastor they got your back.

2.You have authority and power when you are under authority.

1.When you are submitted to the leadership of God that is where God blesses you not when your running your mouth, backbiting, disgruntled, or complaining.

1.As you keep humble God will raise you to a higher level, use you in greater power, and your gift because you are using it to exalt Him.

8 problem personalities

Here are 8 types of students to look out for, they still need us, they are longing for our guidance and in most cases desperately need it. Reaching these students is very challenging but who doesn't love a great challenge.

Don't give up on these students but don't give in, discipleship is hard work but always worth the investment!

1.   The Comedian

·       Comedians are funny and quite likable, but their humor isn’t the point-getting attention is the goal.

·       Any attention is good attention to this student.

·       Sometimes others laugh at what these entertaining clowns do, and that gives them the sense that they’re admired, but it’s usually untrue.

2.   The Gossip

·       A gossip is like a traitor, they chip away at trust and they work undercover. What they mainly accomplish is that they have a damaging impact that can spread like wild fire.

·       Gossips thrive on false intimacy. When gossip A talks to gossip B about gossip C, gossip A feels a counterfeit closeness to gossip B.

Proverbs 25:18 “Telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an ax, wounding them with a sword, or shooting them with a sharp arrow.”

3.    The Bully

·       The Bully uses anger fear, and intimidation-verbal and non-verbal- to get what he or she wants.

·       Bullying is usually a sign of insecurity.

·       Since Bullies don’t trust authority, they experience a twisted form of power and control. They actually think they are always in charge.

·       The bible tells us that the devil is a bully. So classify yourself.

4.   The Dear Abby

·       The Dear Abby kid tries to be everyone’s counselor matchmaker and all-around helper.

·       This student can look safely other-centered, but Dear Abby’s act out of a vacuum in their souls.

·       The Dear Abby’s never focus on themselves and what they need from God or others, they only spotlight on what others need leaving them depressed and even more addicted to finding their identity in solving others’ problems.

5.   The Emotional Train Wreck:

·       This personality style surfaces in many variations including depression, neediness or dramatic behavior, insecurity, and serious social awkwardness.

·       They drain others emotionally and don’t get better when others offer encouragement.

·       Patience and time have no real Positive impact on them.

Proverbs 25:28 “A person without self-control is as defenseless as a city with broken down walls.”

6.   The Phantom:

·       Phantom kids are hard to read- they’re often regular attendees in our ministry, but they’re often “there but not there.” They are watching like a hawk to see if you’re real.

·       They secretly expect us to find the magic key to unlock the door to their heart; if we don’t then we’ve let them down.

·       Phantom students fade into the background because they’ve likely been abused or over-controlled.

·       Phantom’s want the church to fail them in some way so they can have an eternal excuse to dismiss themselves from God and His house.

Hebrews 9:27 “It is destined that each person dies only once and after that comes judgment.”

7.   The Whiner

·       Whiners are grumbling complainers who have a knack for detecting fault wherever they look.

·       Whiners are hard to like.

·       These students know they can get under your skin.

·       Their cynicism drains people.

·       Most whiners have experienced major disappointments from key people- they feel abandoned.

“Complaining is the language of unbelief.”

8.   The Golden Child

·       The Golden Child is an exclusive problem personality because he/she does everything just the way you’re “supposed” to do.

·       These students are just plain good- they like to play by the rules within whatever adult structure they can find. They are usually superficial and they spend most of their time praying and hoping no one finds out.

·       They have this whole Christianity thing down pat.

·       They have a regular quiet time, show up on time to ministry events and are involved in every program.

·       Often, these kids have found ways to use God to make their lives work. Like a well-known athlete who uses sports to get applause the Golden Child uses God to make things go smooth and proper.

Closing- We will love you any way, no matter how you treat us.

·       All of these kinds of students are high maintenance low impact Christians. Never reaching their full God given potential.

Luke 5:30-32 “But the Pharisees and their teachers of religious law complained bitterly to Jesus' disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with such scum? 31 Jesus answered them, "Healthy people don't need a doctor—sick people do.32 I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent."

·       We will always see past color, race, creed, and financial status in the life of every student.

·       But we will not let you run, disrupt, or disrespect our call to ministry nor our gift of us loving our God.

·       Jesus said He would turn us over to our reprobate (good for nothing) minds if we would not listen too or serve Him.

·       We serve Christ out of love, and respect, not out of duty or obligation.

Be the difference

Genesis 7:13 “That very day Noah had gone into the boat with his wife and his sons—Shem, Ham, and Japheth—and their wives.14 With them in the boat were pairs of every kind of animal—domestic and wild, large and small—along with birds of every kind.15 Two by two they came into the boat, representing every living thing that breathes.16 A male and female of each kind entered, just as God had commanded Noah. Then the LORD closed the door behind them.”

·       God chooses who goes, who stays, who’s worthy of grace and mercy.

o     Our job is to be the difference.

1.The church’s business summed up in one word is…people.

a. The church’s mission summed up in one word is…people.

b.Jesus Christ’s sole mission summed up in: “died for people.”

2.Jesus died for people not programs, facilities, ideas, or business deals, but people.

a. Jesus did not die for religion, or a philosophical system of ethical behavior, or rules and regulations, or the next big event, or this church or that church, or rituals and good works.

b.Jesus didn’t lay His life down for your personal preference of music, carpet color, chairs or pews, preaching, teaching or worship, He died for people.

c. People are what mattered to Him, people are what He surrendered to, and people are what He laid down His life for.

John3:16, 17"For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”

3.God loves people, Jesus loves people, the Spirit of God empowers people, not programs, ideas, curriculums, events, or handouts but people.

a. Good people, bad people, people who lie, people who cheat, people who steal, people who mistreat other people and some who have even killed people.

1 John 3:11 “This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. 14 If we love our Christian brothers and sisters, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead. 18 Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”

b.People who are nice, people who are mean, people you can't stand and people who can't stand you.

                                                           i.      People who didn't deserve it, people who couldn’t purchase it, people who couldn't earn it, and people who won't accept it He.. died…for…them…all.

c. God did not tell Noah to pick and choose through the animals.

                                                           i.      He didn’t say I want you to kill the mosquitoes cause they are annoying and they suck no pun intended.

ii.      Leave off the skunks’ cause they stink.

iii.      Don’t load the raccoons or badgers because they fight.

iv.      Refuse the big cat family, panthers lions, tigers, bears oh my, cause they eat everybody up with their mouths.

                                                       v.      Keep the peacock’s from boarding cause they walk around with their beautiful tail stuck up in the air saying I’m better than you, more beautiful than you, and everybody wants to be me.

vi.      The anteater’s stick their tongue into everything.

vii.      Those big eared elephants wanting to hear all that gossip everyone’s passing around.

viii.      The bug eyed tree frog’s are too nosey, got those shifty eyes staring at everybody making them nervous.

ix.      God said to load them all.

                                                       x.      We have to live our lives in a “Load All” mentality.

Ezekiel 34:21 “For you fat sheep pushed and butted and crowded my sick and hungry flock until you scattered them to distant lands.”

4.If you always come to church and hear the Word of God and you feed your Spirit but you never release that word into the life of another than you will become spiritually fat, spiritually obese, and good for nothing in the Kingdom of God.

a. I am sick of the church talking about evangelizing the world yet not doing it.

                                                           i.      Who are you sharing the Gospel with?

                                                        ii.      Who are you discipling?

iii.      Who are you rescuing from hell and destruction?

                                                    iv.      Where are your converts?

                                                       v.      We have to witness it’s a command of God.

vi.      Who are the people God has chosen, commanded, and blueprinted you to minister to?

Evangelism- the winning or renewal of personal commitments to Christ.

b.The world can not read our minds nor our spirits, they will see our lives, they will hear our words if we have validity and respect in their eyes.

                                                           i.      When we love people as Christ loved them and gave Him self for them then we will make the difference.

                                                        ii.      We will be…the difference.
