Youthrock Axxess Nov 4th 2010

The annual Fall Festival at Solid Rock Family Church took place this past Sunday Night on Oct 31st. The theme was Welcome to the Jungle! All the workers began to arrive around 4PM and the event kicked off at 5PM with a line of cars filing into the parking lot. The Parking Team helped direct and keep the flow of traffic moving throughout the night. We had several different kinds of games such as Zero Gravity, Rock Climbing, Bull Riding, several inflatables like a giant slide and hoop shot, and a race track in the middle of the gym along with many other games and activities throughout the facility. Thousands of people ran through the facility dressed up in costumes just having a great time. People of all ages showed up to this event. Over at the visitor’s tables every single gift bag was handed out before the night was even finished. This event is a great way to help reach out to the community and serve them while showing the example of Christ that’s in us. The entire event was all free including food and prize giveaways like a digital camera and an iPod. In conclusion it was a successful night and a great safe and friendly family environment for all.

Back in the Roman times they did something that is unbelievable to a person after they have been guilty of murder. They would take the dead body of a person that the murderer killed, strap it to the murderers back and was forced to live their life with a dead body weighing them down. As the body starts to decompose, swell, ooze, and rot, the DEATH would seep into the body of the murderer. This would cause a slow and painful death, as you could only imagine. The Romans were the same people that invented the cross. Imagine yourself in this position. How would you go about living your life with a dead body strapped to you? It would make life a bit difficult. Everywhere you go you have that smelly rotting dead body with you. I bet you would lose friends and even family members over it. Possibly your lunch every time you tried to eat. Lifting up your arm and you see a finger just fall off into your food. Okay moving away from the graphic stuff now. This is the same situation when it comes to sin. Sin weighs us down. Sin is a slow death to the spirit of God in us. Sin separates you from God. Paul wrote in Romans “the things I wanted to do, I did not and the things I did not want to do, I did.” It is a constant battle between right and wrong, between the Holy Spirit and Sin. There are times I know I should have done what is right and end up picking the wrong choice and pay for it by its consequence. Many people are tied to their sin, their addictions, to their destruction. We must rid of the dead body off that is hanging on us. We need to chalk line that body and stuff it in a body bag. Loose that dead body loose that sin and be free from it. The way to do that is to seek God for forgiveness and repent of those things. Remove those things that may make you stumble back into that life style. Jesus paid the ultimate price on the cross. He paid for the rules that we ignore, the guidelines we crossed, the laws we broke, he paid for it with his life. Becoming a Christian takes a moment of faith but becoming like Christ is a lifelong process. It is a commitment. Perfection is God’s requirement Jesus is God’s perfect alternative. Jesus did not come to make bad people good but to make dead people come alive. As said before with that body strapped on it will eventually kill you.  1 John 4:9-10 states this “God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real loved not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” And there is your recap of Youthrock this last weds night!
