Absolutes of God's will for your life

Have you ever heard someone say, “God moves in mysterious ways”? I sure am glad that statement isn't true. The will of God doesn't have to be mysterious.

Here are some things you can absolutely count on.

1. God’s will is salvation.
    1. Our heavenly Father desires that all of humankind have eternal life with Him.
    2. That includes you.
      1. Titus 2:11 "For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. 12 And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, 13 while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. 14 He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds."
    3. God's will and desire is that all will be saved, He has revealed that to the world.
    4. The church, Christianity's sole mission is to share that great news with all.
      1. Christ gave His life to free us now we need to totally commit our life to doing good.
2. God’s will is dominion.
    1. Dominion simply means control.
    2. God wants you to apply His Word and take control of your body, thought life, attitude, and future.
      1. Many think they will never be able to find God's will, God's purpose, or God's plan when in fact He told us to rule or have dominion over all the earth.
        1. 1 Peter 4:10 "God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.11 Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen."
      2. All dominion is God's to give and He gave authority to mankind to rule the earth.
      3. God gave His son Jesus Christ all authority, all power, and all dominion forever and ever.

3. God’s will is discipleship.
    1. We are to grow in our walk with Christ.
      1. Growing is a sign of life.
      2. Stagnation, decay, or rotting is a sign of death.
        1. Many think they are living when in reality they are dying through religion, traditions, attitude, rebellion, operation in the flesh, or in battling their sin nature.
        2. Jesus came to give us life and that life abundantly.
      3. As we mature we are to help others do the same.
        1. Every "disciple of Christ" should be making, creating, "disciples of Christ."
        2. Who are you mentoring?
        3. Who are you bringing closer to God?
        4. Who are you encouraging and sharpening in their faith?

4. God’s will is unity.

    1. Your words and actions must be united with God’s Word.
      1. God's Word is our measuring apparatus, not people, programs, ideas, or structure.
      2. Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable."
        1. With each of  us being accountable to God for every action, every word, and every deed, who else matters?
          1. Respectfully, if you refuse to live life to it's fullest because you are rejecting God's plan, God's way, God's heart, or God's rescue then what a sad life to live.
5. God’s will is stewardship.
    1. We are to take proper care of our time, money, abilities, and all God has entrusted us with.
      1. Stewardship-a person who manages another's property or financial affairs.
        1. God has entrusted me to manage His things, His finances that He blesses me with, His children that He has blessed me with, His resources that I manage for Him. WOW!
        2. This is such a powerful opportunity, and weighty responsibility that I do not want to fail in.
        3. Luke 16:10 "If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities.11 And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?12 And if you are not faithful with other people's things, why should you be trusted with things of your own?"
          1. What a responsibility Christianity has, what an enormous responsibility the global church has.
6. God’s will is relationships.
    1. Through the power of relationships, you will be able to accomplish things that would be impossible if you were alone.
      1. Galatians 6:1 "Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer* is overcome by some sin, you who are godly* should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.2 Share each other's burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.3 If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important."

7. God’s will is progressive.

    1. God has a plan for your life that will be completed one step at a time, not in leaps or bounds.
      1. Grow in Him daily!

Young Guns U

This series has been so cool to me for when you begin to talk about young leaders who are dangerous to hell, dangerous to the Devil, dangerous to everything evil and destructive that fires me up like no other.

Proverbs 10:5 (NLT)
"A wise youth harvests in the summer, but one who sleeps during harvest is a disgrace."

  • Here is just blame of those who blow off opportunities, both for here and for hereafter.
    • sleeps--in indolence(avoidance of activity or exertion, laziness,) and not for rest
    • Disgrace-causes shame--literally, "is base" (the lowest part or the edge of something)
  • Lazy people have never inspired me.
    • Never, like never, like never ever, ever, never.
  • He/she harvests at the right time and rests at the right time.
    • A lot of people try to harvest(work) for God at the the House of God.
    • While God actually wants us to be in His rest at the House of God and be in harvest(work) everywhere else.
  • Rest meaning that we utilize our time in the House of God to connect with Him, connect with others, respond to His word, communicate to Him with prayer, and worship.
    • Prayer is letting God know what you need, what your struggling with, what your upset for, what challenges others or your self might be facing, bringing your requests to Him.
      • Prayer is moving the hand of God, worship moves the heart of God.
      • Prayer says I need, worship says I'm thankful, I'm grateful for.
    • Worship is thanking God for all of those things, showing adoration, love, respect, and honoring Him.
  • Worshiping God is bringing my honor, bringing my love, bringing my respect, and bringing my worth of God to God.
    • Work meaning ready to share our faith, ready to share our confidence in Him, ready to rescue others with the message of Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 14:35 (NLT)
"A king rejoices in wise servants but is angry with those who disgrace him."

Disgrace-Loss of reputation or respect especially as the result of a dishonorable action.

  • Being young, being influential is such an enormous opportunity in this life.
    • We have such an opportunity to shape this culture, to inspire our families, to witness to our friends with our lifestyle.
    • A lot of people disregard their own youth with their time, disregard their youth with their efforts, disregard their youth with their talent, disregard their youth with their activity thinking that none of it matters until they get old.
  • They refuse to share their gifting, talent, ability, ideas, with the world.
    • Essentially they never share their "real self."
      • They share a substitute.
      • Substitutions are rarely ever better than the original.
      • Like one in a million.

  • Identifying who and what you are in Christ is the key to this life.
    • God's dream, desire, and plan for you.
    • Why live my young life for Christ?
    • Why get baptized?
    • Why give in the offering?
    • Why read my bible and pray?
    • Why a missions trip?
    • Why influence the world for good, for Christ?
  • Young Leaders of the bible never did everything right but they always got Him right.
    • They always leaned on, trusted, obeyed, and placed their faith in God, their complete confidence in Him.
      • We're they without fear?
        • No.
      • We're they without questions?
        • Are you kidding me?
      • We're they unclear about all the outcomes?
        • Yes!
  • Young Guns, see their need and see their supply, in Him.
    • God is both for us.
  • Culture thinks God is all about what I can't do, God will get me if I smoke, drink, cuss, or chew, God will get me if I hang around those that do.

God "so loved the world, John 3:16" not God so hated us, not God is so displeased with us, not God can't wait to catch you doing something wrong but God "so loved" us that His Son chose to trade His perfect existence for our imperfect one.

  • Do we really want Jesus to show up?

Mark 5:15-17 "When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man—and told about the pigs as well. Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region."

  • Do we really want Jesus to show up?
    • Because when He showed up in this community, they lost a huge part of their economy.
    • Yes, He had done a great thing for a crazy man living by himself in a cave.
      • But He was messing up their way of doing things and their why of doing it.
      • So they asked Him to leave.
    • As soon as He touched their structure, their possessions, their money, His presence wasn’t welcome.
      • I think most people want Jesus to show up and have their lives improve.
        • Fair enough.
      • Jesus told us He came to bring us abundant life, full life, and that’s what His presence brings.
      • The problem is that in addition to wanting an abundant life, we usually want everything else to remain the same.
        • Business as usual.
        • Status quo...intact.
        • My system, good to go.
      • On both global and personal levels.
        • We want Jesus plus economic prosperity.
        • Jesus plus national security.
        • Jesus plus safety.
        • Jesus plus wrongdoing.
        • Jesus doesn't always work like that.
  • It’s not that safety, security, and prosperity cannot coexist with Jesus and His movement among us.
  • It’s just that our desire for safety, security, and prosperity at the expense of Jesus cannot coexist with Jesus and His movement among us.
    • One of the greatest things standing between you and the uninhibited, powerful presence of Jesus in your life is probably the thing you believe must coexist alongside Him.
      • Big things like the economy.
      • World peace.
      • Or smaller things like your boyfriend/girlfriend.
      • Sleeping in.
      • Not working hard or even not pursuing God passionately and purposefully.
  • In order to bring us what we really want, abundant life, sometimes God has to take away what we think we need.
    • It’s often the things that we hold onto most tightly that we need to let go of most desperately.
      • Do we really want Jesus to show up?
  • What if Jesus comes and messes everything up?
    • What if we ask Him to show up in our nation and the economy goes down?
    • What if we ask Him to show up in our family and our preferred path and scenario for them isn't their vision for them or isn't God’s vision for them?
      • What if God told you not to date that person because of their lack of a value system.
  • Some of us probably wouldn’t want Jesus to show up then.
    • But that would be our loss.
    • Jesus’ presence may mess everything up.
      • But by messing everything up, He is actually putting everything exactly where it belongs and positioning us for exactly what we need.
        • And that’s Himself.
  • It's not His hate for us, His judgment, of us, His ruling over us that would change us it's His love.

1 John 3:11 “This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. 14 If we love our Christian brothers and sisters, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead. 18 Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”

  • Young Guns love when it's time and when it's inconvenient.
    • They lead when others refuse.
    • They rescue when others chose to only concern themselves with themselves.
    • They serve when it would so much easier to be served.

Young Guns Jacob/Esau/John the Baptist

Young Guns Jacob/Esau John the Baptist

This series takes on such a cool feel to me for when you begin to talk about young leaders who are dangerous to hell, dangerous to the Devil, dangerous to everything evil and destructive that fires me up like no other.

Genesis 25:27-34 (NLT)
"As the boys grew up, Esau became a skillful hunter. He was an outdoorsman, but Jacob had a quiet temperament, preferring to stay at home. [28] Isaac loved Esau because he enjoyed eating the wild game Esau brought home, but Rebekah loved Jacob. [29] One day when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau arrived home from the wilderness exhausted and hungry. [30] Esau said to Jacob, "I'm starved! Give me some of that red stew!" [31] "All right," Jacob replied, "but trade me your rights as the firstborn son." [32] "Look, I'm dying of starvation!" said Esau. "What good is my birthright to me now?" [33] But Jacob said, "First you must swear that your birthright is mine." So Esau swore an oath, thereby selling all his rights as the firstborn to his brother, Jacob. [34] Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew. Esau ate the meal, then got up and left. He showed contempt for his rights as the firstborn."
  • A birthright was a special honor given to the firstborn son.
    • It included a double portion of the family inheritance along with the honor of one day becoming the family's leader.
    • The oldest son could sell his birthright or give it away if he chose, but in so doing, he would lose both material goods and his leadership position.
  • By trading his birthright, Esau showed complete disregard for the blessings that would have come his way if he had kept it.
  • Esau traded the lasting benefits of his birthright for the immediate pleasure of food.
  • Esau exaggerated his hunger. "I'm dying of starvation!" he said.
    • The pressure of the moment distorted his perspective and made his decision seem urgent.
    • He acted on impulse, satisfying his immediate desires without considering the long-range consequences.
      • We can fall into the same trap.
      • When we see something we want, our first impulse is to get it and we can exaggerate its importance in the moment.
      • We can avoid making Esau's mistake by comparing the short-term satisfaction with the long-range consequences.
        • We often experience pressures like Esau did.
        • For example, when we feel sexual temptation, a purity vow, a marriage vow may seem unimportant.
          • Maybe you haven't prepared for a big test and cheating seems like now the only option you got, resisting that urge builds character, cheating destroys it.
          • Maybe you choose to do things feeling as if no one is looking, no one is paying a attention, no one cares.
        • When I begin hearing that voice immediately I rebuke it knowing that I will know, I will see, I will experience the pain, shame and guilt of doing wrong and that it will disappoint my God.
          • Perspective is everything.
      • Your attitude and the way you regard life, your calling, your relationships, and others is everything.
        • Getting through that short, pressure-filled moment is often the most difficult part of overcoming temptation.
      • Ask God to help you see life from His perspective and to help you resist making Esau-like choices.
        •  Instead of selling our birthright we need to embrace it.
        • Embrace that God has called, destined, and designed you for this purpose.
      •  It's choice not chance that determines your destiny in life.
        • My birthright is what God has planned for me.
          • It's what He has designed, blueprinted, and planed for me.
            • This is so special to me.
            • This is something I will protect even if it were to cost my life, my birthright.
            • My freedoms, God's exceptional purpose through me.

Illustrate here: Blue Prints.

  • God has constructed me in such a manner and He built everyone of us with great thought, with great design, with greatness deposited inside of each area of our lives.
    • Why would I ever disregard, dismantle, or destroy that?
    • I wouldn't trade that for anything this world would ever have to offer.

Speaking of that another Young Gun comes to mind named John the Baptist.

Luke 1:8-17 (NLT)
"One day Zechariah was serving God in the Temple, for his order was on duty that week. [9] As was the custom of the priests, he was chosen by lot to enter the sanctuary of the Lord and burn incense. [10] While the incense was being burned, a great crowd stood outside, praying. [11] While Zechariah was in the sanctuary, an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the incense altar. [12] Zechariah was shaken and overwhelmed with fear when he saw him. [13] But the angel said, "Don't be afraid, Zechariah! God has heard your prayer. Your wife, Elizabeth, will give you a son, and you are to name him John. [14] You will have great joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, [15] for he will be great in the eyes of the Lord. He must never touch wine or other alcoholic drinks. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even before his birth. [16] And he will turn many Israelites to the Lord their God. [17] He will be a man with the spirit and power of Elijah. He will prepare the people for the coming of the Lord. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and he will cause those who are rebellious to accept the wisdom of the godly."

  • Filled with the Holy Spirit within his mothers womb God had a plan for this Young Gun.
    • While Zechariah was in the "House of God" representing and serving the people of God an angel came and spoke to him about his family.
      • God is personal, His design is personal, His plan is personal, His presence is personal, His dream and mission for you is personal.

John 1:6,7 (NLT)
"God sent a man, John the Baptist, [7] to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony."

  • You talk about being blueprinted, the scripture stated that "God sent a man" I love this God sent, John went.
    • We need to have this mindset built into our psyche that we will hear from God, then do what He says.
    • Don't make excuses, don't waste time, don't procrastinate, just execute.
      • Execute His plan for us.

John 1:17,32-37 (NLT)
"[17] For the law was given through Moses, but God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. [32] Then John testified, "I saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove from heaven and resting upon him. [33] I didn't know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me, 'The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.' [34] I saw this happen to Jesus, so I testify that he is the Chosen One of God." [35] The following day John was again standing with two of his disciples. [36] As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, "Look! There is the Lamb of God!" [37] When John's two disciples heard this, they followed Jesus."

  • A great leader of God will always point all to Jesus.

No one will be able to standagainst you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. Iwill not fail you or abandon you. [6] "Be strong and courageous, for youare the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to theirancestors I would give them. [7] Be strong and very courageous. Be careful toobey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turningeither to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everythingyou do. [8] Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day andnight so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will youprosper and succeed in all you do. [9] This is my command-be strong andcourageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with youwherever you go."
