4 danger zones in modern entertainment

I enjoy good entertainment just as much as the next guy, but I truly believe that we must all guard the gates of our minds and hearts. Second Timothy 3:1-6 says we are to have nothing to do with wicked and ungodly people. This biblical principle also applies to our entertainment.
Here are 4 danger zones that we must steer clear of in modern entertainment.

1.  Sexual immorality.

ÞThe Word of God says that there should not even be a hint of sexual immorality in our lives.

ÞEphesians 5:3 “Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God's people. “

ÞHave the courage not to compromise even when everyone else will.

ÞYou don’t have to leave people wondering, they can know what kind of person you are.

2.  Disrespect for authority.

ÞHonoring and obeying our parents will bring us blessings.

ÞExodus 20:12 "Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the LORD your God will give you.”

ÞPaul wrote that our police, military, and government leaders are ministers of God.

ÞRomans 13:

ÞRespect for Authority

Þ1Obey the government, for God is the one who put it there. All governments have been placed in power by God. 2So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow. 3For the authorities do not frighten people who are doing right, but they frighten those who do wrong. So do what they say, and you will get along well. 4The authorities are sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for you will be punished. The authorities are established by God for that very purpose, to punish those who do wrong. 5So you must obey the government for two reasons: to keep from being punished and to keep a clear conscience. 6Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid so they can keep on doing the work God intended them to do. 7Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and import duties, and give respect and honor to all to whom it is due.

3.  Mocking of God.

ÞDid you know that when you fail to react to others’ degrading of God and godly principles, you come into agreement to those acts?

ÞJesus said that if you were ashamed of Him and the Word, He would be ashamed of you.

ÞLuke 9:26 “If a person is ashamed of me and my message, I, the Son of Man, will be ashamed of that person when I return in my glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels.”

4.  Rage.

ÞDon’t believe that you’re uncontrolled anger will bring a solution to your problem.

ÞIt won’t.

ÞIt will add to your already existing problems.

ÞProverbs 14:16 says, ‘A fool is hotheaded and reckless.’

ÞDon’t be a fool!

5 Things Real Friends Never Do To Each Other

If you want to be a real friend, I suggest you do the complete opposite of these 5 things.

1. Lie and Deceive ~ A real friend looks out for the interest of others.
  • We must realize that to lie and deceive does not protect anyone, but it hurts all parties involved.
  • Be a person of truth and honesty.
2. Spread Rumors~Be sure you are a positive promoter for your friends, not a negative rumor spreader.
  • If you’re talking bad about someone else, someone else is probably talking bad about you.
3. Be Jealous~Love is not jealous.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 says…“ Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

  • We should be the happiest people our friends know when they succeed.
  • If your friend gets something new don’t be jealous.
  • Enjoy the benefits of your friendship.
4. Discourage~Discouragement is simply the taking away of courage.
  • Encourage- give your friends the courage to face all opportunities and obstacles that come their way.
  • Be your friend’s number-one Fan.
5. Give Up~Jesus is our ultimate example of a real friend.
  • Are you thankful He never gave up on us?
  • As a real friend you shouldn’t quit on your friends because of challenging times.
  • Jesus said He would never leave us or forsake us.
  • Let’s make that commitment as well.

    Martyrs-Disciples

Caitlin Introduction: Welcome to Youthrock Extreme News. Its not about news you want to hear, but news you need to know, and that news is truth. Tonight, we have special segment for you dedicated to those who died for the Glory of Gods Kingdom. These Martyrs lived a brave and courageous life in a world where Gods glory was prohibited to shine(I will put a list of countries where it is prohibited). These Martyrs knew what it meant to stand up for what you believed in, to turn the other cheek, and that this pain too shall pass. We will learn about the 4 beliefs of the martyr tonight. Suffering is a privilege, suffering is the expected norm, suffering is to refine us, and the life we live; we live for God. These are the Martyrs and their beliefs.

Slide 1-Jesus Christ the ultimate martyr.

Michael: The belief of the Martyr...

    1.Suffering is a privilege.

1.Privilege-a special right, advantage, granted only to a particular group or individual.

Matthew 5:11-12 (NLT) "God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. [12] Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way."

    Caitlin:

Slide 2-Hugh Laverick John Aprice England 1556 Page 220 Jesus Freaks volume 2

Our Good Physician In England 1556, Two men by the name of Hugh Laverich and John Aprice were sentenced to die on the stake for their faith. Laverick was a 60 year old painter and used a crutch for his crippled foot. Aprice was blind. Before they died in the flames, Lavericks last words that were said to Aprice were, Be of good cheer, my brother; for my lord of London is our good physician; he will heal us both shortly- thee of thy blindness, and me of my lameness.

Story 2: Like Gold in the Fire
Slide 3, 4 Polycarp Smyra (Turkey) 168 AD

His murderers decided to kill him in a fire, but he didn't die in the fire he looked as though gold and silver being refined and there was a sweet incense coming from the smoke. Since he wouldn't die in the fire, a soldier took a sword and stabbed him and there was so much blood overflow it put out the fire. His final prayer: O Father, I thank You that you have called me to this day and hour and have counted me worthy to receive my place among the number of the holy martyrs, Amen.

    Michael:
    2. Suffering is an expected norm.
2 Timothy 3:12 (NLT) "Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution."

Caitlin: If You tell Others, People Will Kill You

Pakistan in the 1990s, a man who was Muslim argued with the Christian students about their opinions of Christianity. They offered to give him more information about Christ for he had many questions. He went to a priest and the priest compared the Bible to the Quran. The young Muslim came to the realization the Christ was true and felt it in his spirit. Once he told his family of his conversion, his family kicked him out, his brother threatened to kill him and when he became an ordained pastor, his family completely denounced him. He responded, I am happy in Jesus. Although I lost my physical family, I have my spiritual family. Now, I help my Christian brothers and sisters to understand Muslims and lead them to Christ.

    Michael:
    3. Suffering is a way to refine us.
Refine-to remove impurities or unwanted elements.
Romans 5:3-5 (NLT) "We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. [4] And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. [5] And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love."

    Caitlin:
    Slide 5 Liuba Ganevskaya
    Smiling at her Torturer
Russia 1970s, a girl by the name of Liuba  Ganevskaya was being brutally beaten and starved to death for her belief in Christ. However, right before the guard continued to beat her he began screaming foul language at her, she started smiling at him for she saw him differently. She saw that he was tired of beating her just as much as she was tired of being beaten. He was as desperate over not getting information just as she was to suffer for her friends who were also believers. Her Guard says to her Why do you smile? She says, I see you as you surely once were, a beautiful, innocent child. We are the same age, we could have been playmates. I see you, too as I hope you will be. There was once a persecutor worse than you named Saul of Tarsus. He became an apostle and a saint." The guard set his whip down and set her free.

    Michael:
    4. The life we live, we live for God.
Galatians 2:20 (NLT) "My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

    Caitlin:
Slide 6 Li De Xian Mainland China 1995
His heart would Not Die He was a young evangelist who was traveling to a village to convert more people to christ. A number of officers rampaged the church house, molested a women and confiscated the religious materials. They beat him severely in an isolated cell and beat him with his own bible. After seven hours of beating he was released. After recuperating for only a few days, he went back to traveling the village to spread the gospel. This happens several times during his travels yet Li said he will preach until he dies. He was arrested and pushed to stop what he was doing but he refused to give in.

    Michael:
Illustrate here: Our final Martyr was killed the morning of April 20th, 1999 at Columbine High School the age of 17 years old, her name was Cassie Bernall. In the course of an hour, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 12 students, one teacher, and injured 24 others before ending their own lives.

Drama: gunshots sounds as shooters work, then all lights out at the words "You believe in God? Why?"

                Altar call-What is your belief?
This is the belief of these Martyrs, these pure  witnesses what about us?
Not every Christian wears a mask.

Luke 9:23 "Then he said to the crowd, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me."

4 things on earth that are small but unusually wise

4 things on earth that are small but unusually wise.
Proverbs 30:24-28 “24 There are four things on earth that are small but unusually wise:
    25 Ants—they aren't strong,
but they store up food all summer.
    26 Rock badgers—they aren't powerful,
but they make their homes among the rocks.
    27 Locusts—they have no king,
    but they march in formation.
28 Lizards—they are easy to catch,
but they are found even in kings' palaces.”

    1. Ants
      1. They aren’t strong but they store up food for the winter.
      2. Ants…
        1. Ants teach us about preparation and how to plan for the future.
        2. It’s coming.
        3. Work together to accomplish great and impossible tasks.
        4. Ants teach us about teamwork in the church and in life.
      3. Church has become lazy.
      4. Complacent.
      5. Comfortable.
        1. To work diligently means being willing to work hard and do one’s best at any job given.
          1. Diligent-make good use of resources
          2. Lazy-waste good resources
          3. Diligent-Are fully satisfied
          4. Lazy-want much but get little
          5. Diligent-love to give
          6. Lazy-desire things but refuse to work for them-are full of excuses for not working
          7. Diligent-reap abundance through hard work
          8. Lazy-experience poverty because of laziness.
        2. The church has become lethargic instead of diligent when sharing the message of Jesus Christ.
    2. Rock Badgers
      1. They aren’t powerful but they make their homes among the rocky cliffs.
        1. Badgers are said to be the fearless, meanest animals in the world.
          1. Great shelter.
          2. Safe and secure.
          3. Away from enemies where you are out of their reach.

          1. They build their homes in a wise place.
          2. They build their families in a wise place.

            1. Jesus said He would build His church on the rock and that the gates of hell can not prevail against it.
            2. He was referring to His work of salvation by dying for us on the cross.
Psalms 61:1-5 O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! 2 From the ends of the earth, I will cry to you for help, for my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, 3 for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me.”

    3.Locusts
    1. They have no king but they march like an army in ranks.
      1. Successful Military.
      2. Locusts…/grasshoppers.
        1. One seems insignificant as it leaps across the lawn; but when it joins forces with others, watch out!
        2. The resulting swarm can soon devour all the vegetation in its path.
        3. That's because locusts demonstrate the power of community.
        4. What they cannot do by themselves, they can accomplish together.
          1. In unity anything can be accomplished.
          2. Locusts teach us about cooperation and order.
          3. Tower of Babel.
          4. Genesis 11 the whole world spoke a single language and used the same words.
            1. If we would work together for the agenda of God we could accomplish anything for Him.
            2. We have a King but only serve Him when it’s convenient, only serve Him when we want or need something, only serve Him when we are hurting, frustrated, mad, or confused.
            3. I choose to serve Him in the good times and in the bad.
          5. The church doesn’t grow cause it’s disciples don’t grow so no one is doing their job.

    4. Lizards
    1. They are easy to catch but they are found even in King’s Palaces.
      1. Lizard’s…
        1. Lizards are fearless.
        2. I mean here they are in the King’s Palace running around enjoying all the benefits of a being a King without all of the responsibilities.
          1. That’s me.
          2. That’s us.
            1. The best of everything resides in the King’s Palace.
            2. Comforts, security, workers, servants, entertainment, foods, and drinks.
            3. Safe from enemies in the King’s Palace.
            4. Safe from the elements in the King’s Palace.
            5. Safe from anyone or anything that would try to destroy us.
Matthew 9:35-38 “35 Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 He said to his disciples, "The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields."

Luke 10:2 “These were his instructions to them: "The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”
    1. Solution is laborers.
      1. “Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
      2. Send out laborers!
      3. Not your Pastor, Youth Pastor, Children’s Pastor, Associate Pastor, General Bishops, Sunday School Teacher, Life Team Captains, your momma nor your greasy, greasy granny but Christ.
        1. I’ve noticed that when and only when Christ sends you out will you go and do.
          1. We search for signs-I am a sign-I have been changed miraculously!
          2. You are a laborer you are God’s tool.
2 Thessalonians 3:1-4 “1 Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we ask you to pray for us. Pray that the Lord's message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you. 2 Pray, too, that we will be rescued from wicked and evil people, for not everyone is a believer. 3 But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. 4 And we are confident in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we commanded you.”

    Martyrs Compromise

Martyr-from the Greek word for "witness."
    1. One who chooses to suffer death rather than to deny Jesus Christ or His work.
    2. One who bears testimony to the truth of what he has seen or heard or knows, as in a witness in a court of justice.
    3. One who sacrifices something very important to further the Kingdom of God.
    4. One who endures severe or constant suffering for their Christian witness.

The world is not worthy of those scorned, persecuted Christians, whom their persecutors deemed unworthy to live.
    • They are not worthy of their company, example, counsel, or other benefits.
    • For they know not what a Christian is, nor the worth of a Christian, they hate, and drive them away, as they do the offer of Christ and His grace.

Illustrate Here: End of the spear video clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9rXISqwEKM

Nate Saint's last words to the Waodani we're "I am your friend, your sincere friend."
These brave missionaries dared to make contact and this encounter cost them their lives.
In 1956, five American missionaries were killed by members of an Ecuadoran tribe called the Waodani. The Americans had been trying to penetrate the tribe's isolated culture, befriend its members, and bring them to Christ, but instead met their deaths at the hands of the Waodani's spears. That was only the beginning. In a decision that would have been unimaginable to most people, the wives and children of the murdered missionaries moved into the Waodani village and helped to care for them, successfully forging a friendship that transformed all of them.
Released to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the murders, the film "End of the Spear" tells the story of Steve Saint--whose father was one of the murdered missionaries and whose mother and aunt lived with the Waodani--and Mincaye, the man who killed Saint's father. Mincaye is now a surrogate grandfather to Steve Saint's children the grandchildren of the man he killed.

    Revelation 17:6 (NLT)
"I could see that she was drunk-drunk with the blood of God's holy people who were witnesses for Jesus. I stared at her in complete amazement."

    3. She was drunk with the blood of the martyrs.
    • Drunk meaning she had too much.
    • Intoxicated with 1 of 2 things.
    • Generally speaking when someone is drunk that is a negative connotation meaning they have had too much of a negative thing that affects their body in a negative manner.
    2. Affected by alcohol to the extent of losing control of one's faculties or behavior.
    1. We have given her way too much.
    2. Way too much weakness.
    3. She is intoxicated with our lack.
    4. She is intoxicated with our problems.
    5. She is intoxicated with our unawareness.
    6. She is intoxicated with our impurity.
    7. She is intoxicated with our inconsistency.
    8. She is intoxicated with our passionless motives.
    9. She is intoxicated with our laziness.
    10. She is intoxicated with our prayer less lives.
    11. She is intoxicated with our disabled discipleship.
    12. She is intoxicated with our...silence.

    5. If the same is true in the areas of negativity then the same can be true in the areas of positivity.
    • She is drunk with the purity of the believers before God and men.
    • She is intoxicated with our passion in worship for God and in our service to Him.
    • She is intoxicated with our refusal for less.
    • She is intoxicated with our prayer life and our communication to God.
    • She is intoxicated with our ability to disciple in the face of adversary.
    • She is intoxicated with our pursuit of God, His Word, our hunger to fast, and our generosity in giving.
    • She is intoxicated with our genuine love and acceptance for people.
    1. People who don't look like us, smell like us, act like us or believe like us and how we so desire to reach them for God.
    2. God's revolutionaries on the earth have always been marked by their refusal to kneel to injustice or silence the truth for the sake of convenience, being accepted by the crowd, or personal gain.
    • She is intoxicated with our communication to others about God. Our silence is over!

Matthew 10:32-33 (NLT) "Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. [33] But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven."
    1. Compromise-To compromise is to make a deal where one person gives up part of his or her demand. Synonyms: accommodation, concession, give-and-take, negotiation.
    • A mutual acceptance of terms a "surrender" of objectives, principles, or material, in the process of negotiating an agreement.
    • An agreement that no party is happy with, because the parties involved feel that they either gave away too much or that they received too little.
    • Compromise is actually two words co & promise.
    • You either stand on the promise, that you made or you compromise.
    • When you compromise you make a deal with the devil himself.
    • When you choose to co promise you think you are choosing the lesser of the two evils but compromise will never lead you closer to God.
    • It will always push you, guide you, lure you, drive you toward more compromise.
    • Co promise is the vernacular of Hell.
    Stephen the uncompromising Martyr.
Acts 7:51-60 (NLT) "You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That's what your ancestors did, and so do you! [52] Name one prophet your ancestors didn't persecute! They even killed the ones who predicted the coming of the Righteous One-the Messiah whom you betrayed and murdered. [53] You deliberately disobeyed God's law, even though you received it from the hands of angels." [54] The Jewish leaders were infuriated by Stephen's accusation, and they shook their fists at him in rage. [55] But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed steadily into heaven and saw the glory of God, and he saw Jesus standing in the place of honor at God's right hand. [56] And he told them, "Look, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing in the place of honor at God's right hand!" [57] Then they put their hands over their ears and began shouting. They rushed at him [58] and dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. His accusers took off their coats and laid them at the feet of a young man named Saul. [59] As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." [60] He fell to his knees, shouting, "Lord, don't charge them with this sin!" And with that, he died."

Saul was so enraged with compromise that the scripture says:
Acts 9:1-2 (NLT) "Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath and was eager to kill the Lord's followers. So he went to the high priest. [2] He requested letters addressed to the synagogues in Damascus, asking for their cooperation in the arrest of any followers of the Way he found there. He wanted to bring them-both men and women-back to Jerusalem in chains."
    • Saul desired to kill, he had a hunger to do more of what he witnessed.
    • Blood thirsty for vengeance, for compromise, for hate, for silence against "The Way."
    • He represents a form of the Devil that we contend with daily, even momentarily.
    • Daily trying to get us to quit, daily trying to get us compromise, daily trying to get us to be casual about our Christianity.
    • Refuse casual. Refuse to co promise.
