YR Axxess - Seven Wk 2

Youthrock returned Jan 26th after being off for 2 weeks due to weather. We continued on with the series called "SEVEN" which is the Seven Core Values of Youthrock Teen Ministries. The First week we focused on Purity and Passion. This last weds night we focused on Perseverance and Prayer. Perseverance is a continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. Pastor Mike took his text from 1 Kings 17:17-24. It talks about a woman's son getting sick and he continued to grow worse and worse. The son eventually died and Elijah the prophet comes and the woman says "O man of God, what have you done to me? Have you come here to point out my sins and kill my son?" Elijah said "Give me your son." He takes the body and carries him up the stairs to the room where he was staying, and laid the body on his bed. Elijah then cries out to God saying "O Lord my God, why have you brought tragedy to this widow who has opened her home to me, causing her son to die?" Elijah stretched himself out over the child three times and cried out to the Lord, "O Lord my God, please let this child's life return to him." The Lord heard Elijah's prayer, and the life of the child returned, and he revived! Elijah then brought him down stairs and gave him to his mother. "Look, your son is alive!" said Elijah. Then the woman told Elijah "Now I know for sure that you are a man of God, and that the Lord truly speaks through you."

This is an incredible story about persevering and the power of prayer! The first thing to point out is that Elijah asked for the son. In other words ask for a generation. Because of the prayers over the lives of students, peers, family members, people and so on it will make all the difference. Secondly take this generation to a place of prayer. Elijah took the son to a place upstairs to pray to God over this child. He didn't pray for selfish things he prayed over this child for this woman. He was focused on someone else, not on himself. We need to focus on others. 3rd is to cry out for this generation. Elijah cried out in prayer over this child. 4th Cover this generation in continual prayers. Elijah continued to pray covering over this child 3 times. He persevered while praying for God to move. 5th Pray for this generation to be revived! Elijah prayed for this child to be revived and come back to life. Our generation today needs to be revived in the spirit of God and of truth. They need to be awaken from the lies of the enemy and awaken the greatness within them that they are called with a great purpose in their lives. 6th Expect God to hear you and respond with a revival of a generation. Notice that God recognized and know Elijah's name. In the text it said he heard Elijah's prayer and he responded to it. He knows you! And finally 7th Return your generation revived and alive to their families. Elijah brought the child back to his mother alive and revived all through the power of prayer and perseverance.

Imagine if you prayed like Elijah, how would things be different? Praying for others instead of yourself. Crying out to God til he hears your prayers. Continually praying and seeking God for a miracle to take place. Sometimes we get caught up in our own mess and in our own situations and focus on ourselves more than we focus on others. Whens the last time you prayed for someone else instead of yourself. I know we have our own personal needs but others have needs too. Consider praying for others first before you pray for yourself. Don't just stop praying but continually pray until God answers back and he will answer back. I will leave you with this text:
2 Chronicles 7:14 “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.15 My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place.16 For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy—a place where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart.”

How about that ILD Regional Conference this past weekend at SRFC. ILD is Impact Leadership Development. This event was hosted by the National Office with Joe and Teena Skiles and Randy Lawrence. We had great speakers such as Shannon Odell from Brand New Church, General Bishop Charles Scott, Interview sessions with General Secretary Wayman Ming, Messenger College President Daniel Davis, and a round table discussion with everyone. One of the thing that I caught from ILD when Shannon Odell spoke is "If you move, God moves!" Randy Lawrence spoke this during his message "Leadership is earned, you have to earn the right to pour into someones life." It was a great time to connected with other leaders across the regions. We had people who travelled out of state to come to this event. We had several students there who attended this event as they are next generation leaders. Youthrock was there with several students and leaders listening to the speakers and connected with each other. This event was a Friday night and all day Saturday. We would also like to thank everyone at SRFC for the hard work they put in hosting this event and all the staff and volunteer workers who helped out to make this successful. This is the 3rd year for ILD and it just gets bigger each year. Can't wait for next years!

YR Axxess 1-8-2011

It's a new year which means a new series for the first Youthrock of 2011. For the last few weeks we've been seeing this graphic that just says "Seven." What is "Seven?" This past weds night in Youthrock Pastor Mike revealed the new series and it is about the Seven Core Values of Youthrock Teen Ministries. We launched the first week of the new series with 2 of the core values, Purity and Passion! Purity meaning being pure before God and People. Passion meaning having a passion of worship to God and to serve God.

The seven core values were listed and more will come on the next 5 later in this blog and as we go on through the weeks. But these 7 Core Values will change our community if they were internalized then lived out. These 7 core values has to be in your core. The internal make up of your life. So lets run through briefly about the first 2 core values.

1. Purity takes a commitment that is personal! My commitment to God, my relationship with God, my hunger for God, my purity before Him is a personal decision that will affect me but can have major affect on others. God is interested in mine and yours purity. It's His priority but is it yours? We can look at today's culture and it is saturated with sin, immorality, selfishness, adultery, drunkenness, wickedness, murder, hate, and gossip. We as believers need to make it our priority to live life with purity?

Purity equals transparency. Having a transparency before God and people knowing that if either of them were to look deep into your soul they would find a cleanliness, a spotlessness, even a purity about you. It is the blood of Jesus that keeps us clean.

1 John 1:7 states "But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, His son, cleanses us from all sin."
Cleaness is a verb and is in the PRESENT tense!

Purity is a spiritual state that requires your physical state to react. God can't use you to your fullest potential if you refuse to purify yourself. We are to purify our eyes, ears, mind, and desires. James 4:8 states "Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world."

In John 3:19-21 it talks about light. It talks about how God's light exposes the sin and junk in us. Those who do evil hides in darkness. Those who do what is right is in God's light.  Many people don't want their lives exposed to God's light because they are afraid of what will be revealed. They don't want to change. After purity comes into you then God will reveal your assignment. His plan for your life.

2. Passion which is worship and service. Here's a question, Where are the passionate? God is look at us to have a passionate love after Him. To pursue means to passionately focus my undistracted efforts toward my goal - Chasing after Him passionately. To be passionate means to be obsess, fanatical, fervent, and adoring. We are to worship God passionately. Living our life in service to God. Living our life to please God. Where are those passionate people, where are those who hunger after God?

Many people think being a Christian means following a strict set of rules to keep you obedient. But I happen to feel and believe that being a real follower of God means cultivating a loving, devoted, relationship with Him. The hardest person to stop is a passionate one. When you are passionate you will draw the line in the sand. When we are passionate we will have a boldness a fire that can't be put out. Passion breeds followers.

Check out next weeks service for more on the Seven Core Values of Youthrock and download this message on iTunes by searching Youthrock for our podcast!

Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month at 4PM we have a discipleship class called Youthrock Life Teams. In this session we have open discussions about topics such as what was talked about on Weds nights or something that the leaders bring. We do crazy games and sometimes have food and go off campus. This focuses on a 2 way conversation. You can ask questions, you can say your comments, YOU have a voice! The next Life Team meet will be January 16th at 4PM in Youthrock. Don't miss out! On January 2nd Life Team meet, Caitlin Etoh brought a discussion about New Years and of course New Years Resolutions. We discussed what changes we want to bring this new year, whats our plans and goals and how we can stick with them. Hope to see you at the next Life Team meet!

YOUTHROCK MEDIA TEAM NEEDS YOU!
